1966. The beginning
Salyan Beer and Soft Drinks Plant
The brewery opened in 1966 within the Azerittifaq system. It was then called the Salyan Beer and Soft Drinks Plant and made mostly beer and lemonade, sold in Azerittifaq shops.
At the time there were only four breweries in the republic, and Salyan was one of them.

1989. Akif Mammadyarov
A new head for the brewery
In 1989 Akif Mammadyarov became head of the brewery. He had been offered several posts and chose the small Salyan plant, which only worked in season.
Discipline improved, new equipment arrived from the centre, and both quality and sales grew.

1991. The hard years
When the raw materials stopped
After the USSR collapsed, raw materials from Moscow stopped arriving and the brewery came close to bankruptcy.
As local industry revived, the brewery found new partners and got back on its feet. Throughout these years the family kept it going.

2008. The second generation
Elmar Mammadyarov
In 2008 Akif Mammadyarov’s son, Elmar Mammadyarov, became director. The decision was made to rebuild the brewery with modern imported equipment.

2016. The new brewery
New equipment, the same address
In January 2016 the rebuilt brewery started work with modern European equipment. Malt and hops come from Belgium, Czechia and Germany. The range grows: lager, pilsner and a Belgian-style white beer.
